Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026 (Nihil Novi 0.1)

Nihil Novi is a Chrome extension that hides the posts you've already seen on the sites you turn it on for. It runs on your computer and sends nothing about you anywhere. This page says what it handles and where that goes.

What it stores, on your computer only

In Chrome's extension storage on your computer (chrome.storage.local), readable only by the extension's own pages and service worker:

Network

The extension makes no network requests of its own, with one exception you choose: when you turn notifications on for a site, it fetches that site's own RSS or Atom feed every 30 minutes, without cookies, to tell you about posts you haven't seen. Nothing is sent with that request beyond what any feed reader sends.

No analytics, no account, no advertising, no remote code. Nothing is sold or shared.

Permissions

PermissionWhy
Access to a siteAsked for when you turn Nihil Novi on for that site, so it can see and hide its feed. Given back when you turn the site off.
storageTo keep the settings and fingerprints above.
scriptingTo run its page script on the sites you turned on.
activeTabSo the toolbar button knows which site you're on.
alarms, notificationsFor the RSS check every 30 minutes and its notification, only when you turn notifications on.

Removing it

Turning a site off deletes everything stored for it. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
